Hello. We are TEMPERMANT breeders. We are a 3 breeder team  raising puppies in three separate households. No kennels. Home raised hand raised only. We value the personality and health of a dog over the coat and eye color. Dog breeding is a complex and demanding profession so hopefully by reading The Bible you can understand some of our policies and the process regarding our puppies. There is a lot involved in raising and socializing high quality dogs while independently running a business, juggling the family life, and going to the REAL 9-5 job. Browse through the information below and reach out via email or phone with any questions or clarification. We rarely communicate via text message but will be responsive with instagram messages, email, phone calls, and FB messenger.

What is the process for applying for a puppy?

This is the most common inquiry from prospective families. The simple answer is review the website thoroughly, complete an application (found on The Check List Page) and wait for a follow up email or phone call. The Check List Page is linked below so you can see the step-by-step process once you are set on using us as your breeder.

PUPPY APPLICATION

How much is a deposit and is it refundable?

All deposits/retainers are NON-REFUNDABLE. Under NO circumstances do we refund deposits. A deposit is $500 paid via ZELLE or bank wire. The deposit goes towards the final purchase price of the puppy. You must do an interview with us BEFORE submitting a deposit. Review The CHECK LIST Page.
We confirm deposits via EMAIL on thursdays only.
.

What are your puppy prices?

Pricing will depend on a variety of different things. We do not have cookie cutter pricing. To give you an estimate you can see our 2021 Aussie pricing sheet below. Price may go up or down. You can view our current puppy pages to see what current pricing is.
Pomsky and Aussiedoodle may differ but we don't always have those litters every year.

How do I select my specific puppy?

If a puppy is marked as AVAILABLE on the website you can place your deposit on that specific AVAILABLE PUPPY. You will see AVAILABLE with puppies
OVER 6 weeks old, puppies who's litter has completed DRAFT DAY, or on our STANDARD AUSSIES litters.
But the most common scenario is placing a deposit for a place in line for a current for upcoming litter. That is explained below.
.
Deposit holders will make puppy selections when their litter is about 6 weeks old. We wait until 6 weeks to allow breeder evaluations to promote selecting based on temperament/activity level. The selection process is called DRAFT DAY. Draft Day is announced on our social media and deposit holders will pick in order deposit was placed. Deposit holders have the opportunity to personally talk with us about each puppy before making their final selections. We will guide you based on our evaluations of temperament, personality, drive, activity level, strengths and weaknesses. Color/coat/eye color are not important to US (but may be important to you) when we discuss the puppies as we are TEMPERMENT BREEDERS. Please follow us on Instagram for the weekly photo updates so you can have a good sense of the aesthetics of the dog.
.
Draft Day can take as little as one day or up to three days. If you are unable to make a selection by the end of the 3rd day we will open up selections to the public. Once you have made your specific puppy selection on Draft Day the deposit is NON-TRANSFERRABLE. If you are lower on the list and you want to move to a future litter please email us BEFORE selecting your puppy. Since we place you on two litters you will automatically retain your spot in line for your second litter. If you are requesting to move a THIRD time you will have a $100 transfer fee and will be placed on the end of the deposit holders. This means you may have to wait another 2-6+ months before being matched with a puppy.
.
**PLEASE PEOPLE - PICK BASED ON TEMPERMENT TO AVOID THIS ISSUE AND TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF BEING MATCHED UP ACCORDING TO TEMPERMENT**
.
Once you have made your official "Draft" we will follow up with an email on our next paperwork day. If you have created a puppy instagram we will start tagging you on your puppy's pictures and videos.
.
*PRO TIP - even if you have not picked a name for your puppy still make that puppy IG. Name it "Chonky.puppy.Jones" or whatever you want. You can always change the IG name late. I can't tell you how special the early baby pictures and videos are and people often wished they had made a puppy insta when puppy was still with us. The puppy insta is a scrap book of your puppy and doesn't have to be for anyone other than YOU! *

Transfer Policy

We HIGHLY discourage transfers. We are BURNT OUT due to transfers. Most transfers are done due to color/gender/eyes and these are NOT things we can control. We devote our time to high quality puppy raising so it is really disheartening to get so many transfers based on color. Please understand this is why we have a very specific transfer policy. To avoid the headache of the transfer simply pick your puppy based on temperament. We are temperament breeders.
.
Transferring should be reserved for unforeseeable circumstances only. When you transfer you do not get place above other current deposit holders. You will risk going to the bottom of a list or having a longer waiting period for your puppy. We can not allow transfers to trump deposit holders whom are patiently waiting.

Here are different transfer scenarios:

  1.  Transferring before puppies are born :
    1.  If you want to move to another current or upcoming litter before the puppies are born please complete the transfer request form. I most cases we will simply move you around without a transfer fee. If we have had to spend more time than expected with customer service we will impose a $100 transfer fee. This rarely happens but we have imposed this to help people understand our time is valuable. And we don't like paperwork.
  2. Transferring AT BIRTH:
    1. People will usually transfer off a litter at birth if their preferred gender/coat color was not born. If you are still on a second list and you want to only be on the second list there is no transfer fee. Simply complete the transfer request form within one week of birth letting us know to remove you from the current litter
    2. If you are transferring at birth but this is your second litter (meaning you transferred already) you will have a $100 transfer fee. We will need to set up a time for a phone call to match you with 2 more upcoming litters in the calendar year. Please transfer request form and provide us with some good dates and times for a phone call. You will need to submit the transfer fee before re-match you.
  3. Transferring during DRAFT DAY:
    1. Again this is usually due to the preferred color/gender/eye color not being available. Those lower on the list seem to deal with this the most. If you are still on a second list and you want to only be on the second list there is no transfer fee. Complete the transfer request form  before you select your puppy and BEFORE draft day ends to let us know you are not going to select from this litter and you want to stay on your second litter list.
    2. If this is your second transfer the $100 fee will apply. We will need to set up a time for a phone call to match you with 2 more upcoming litters in the calendar year. Please complete the transfer request form  and provide us with some good dates and times for a phone call. You will need to submit the transfer fee before re-match you.
  4. LATE TRANSFER:
    1. Late transfer is a transfer done AFTER you have selected a specific puppy. In this situation there is a $250 transfer fee. This transfer fee applies EVEN IF YOU ARE ON ANOTHER LITTER. Please DO NOT do a late transfer. It is very stressful for us. We can NOT restock puppies they are not products. We keep the puppy ON HOLD or RESERVED and pass over many qualified families FOR WEEKs because YOU had already committed to a puppy. We have also done weeks to months of customer service, breeder support, check ins, social media engagements WITH YOU SPECIFICALLY and now we need to start over again and QUICKLY. If the late transfer fee rubs you the wrong way that is OKAY!!! Late transfers are not fun for ANYONE!!!  Please do your best to not transfer after a puppy has been selected so everyone can be happy in life. If you need to late transfer complete the transfer request form  and submit the $250 late transfer fee within 24 hours of the email. We will set up a time to rematch you with a future puppy.

Media Updates

PHOTO UPDATES:
Photos are a BIG part of the buying processes for deposit holders. Every photo that is posted helps you feel more connected with your new puppy. We take new photos every 2 weeks and post them to the Instagram, FB group, and website. We don't text or email photos individually. Since we are a three breeder team you will see different photo quality from each breeder. Photography is a big learning curve for adults so please be understanding.
Videos are not commonly posted unless taken by the social media manager. Due the distance between partner breeders we can not swap or share video. Please do not expect regular videos due to distance and technology. Any videos posted are a happy bonus!
.
Please remember that a breeder's main focus is puppy raising, safety, and wellness of her dogs. There is a lot of behind the scenes activity that can delay photos on our end. We LOVE getting photos for everyone but it is not our priority over the 8 weeks. Asking for photos before the 2 week mark is not helpful for us and won't get photos out sooner. Please help us keep our sanity!!
.
STUDIO PHOTOS:
Only publicly share studio photos that have been watermarked. We would like the recognition of the photography so do not crop out the watermark. If the photo looks cell phone quality share without a watermark.
.

LIVE VIDEOS
The Social Media manager will run live videos on IG on some litters. Not every litter will have live videos. Live videos are not saved.
Please think of live videos as a happy bonus!

PUPPY EVALUATIONS

Our health and developmental evaluation are done at birth, 2, 4, 6 and 7-6 weeks of age. These are evaluations WE do with our puppies and are separate from vet visits.

Nutrition

All of our dogs are RAW fed. Our puppies are started on RAW and then weaned to Life's Abundance Small to Medium Breed Puppy food. This is a dog food brand created by a vet, made and sourced in the U.S.A, and has never had a recall. The company ships to your door and has a lot of other EXCELLENT products that we regularly use for our animals.
.
SIDE NOTE
Please order from the links found in this website or email as we distribute customers to reps that WE PERSONALLY KNOW. Our reps are people who ACTUALLY KNOW OUR DOGS. Our reps have spent time with our dogs and know how we raise them. We change reps every months to help everyone out. When you order from one of our reps you will have additional customer service from them as well as the company.
Our current 2021 reps are: KAYLA, CHELSEA, ELLIS AND AARON.

VISITATION

We do NOT allow any visits with our puppies during the first 8 weeks. Our puppies are all raised in private family homes with our children and family. We are protecting the safety and privacy of our families, neighbors, and property by prohibiting visitors. We also do this to prioritize the BIOSECURITY  of our animals by minimizing the possibility of dog disease, accidents, and security. We can not risk PARVO. We can not risk silly accidents. We can not risk upsetting mommy dogs by allow strangers to pick up, touch, and disrupt the puppies. This policy, like ALL OF OUR POLICIES, is in place for a very specific reason.
The safety of our animals and family will ALWAYS come first - No Exceptions.
.
Question: How on earth can I spend that much money and never actually pick out my puppy?
I get this question A LOT. I mean... A LOT A LOT.
I get it.
Seeing, holding, and interacting with the puppy is a BIG DEAL.
I am sorry that we can not make this happen.
We used to do visits.
Too many things happened.
Now we don't.
If you HAVE TO SEE YOUR PUPPY before putting down a deposit..... Please contact other breeders.
We will not bend on this policy.
I understand we lose business because of this but the safety of our family and animals is more important.
.

Puppy Pick Up

Puppy Pick Up is done no earlier than 8 weeks age. Puppies must pass a health certificate visit prior to sale (see Vet/Health/Medical section below). We schedule puppy pick up in advance and prospective families will have a general time frame for puppy pick up prior to placing their deposit/selecting their puppy. It is important that you prioritize the puppy pick up date as we have very little flexibility in holding puppies past 8 weeks or changing the pick up date. Each puppy will have an assigned time for pick up on Puppy Pick UP Day .
Pick up date is listed on the website, in the welcome email, and as an event on our private FB page.
.
PICK UP LOCATION
Our public pick up location is sent to deposit holders in an email. We set the pick up location well in advance and will give you the address in an email and on our private FB group. We do not meet people half way. If you require transportation we can put you in contact with a transporter who transports animals for a fee.
.
ORLANDO or JACKSONVILLE
Some of our litters have pick up in Orlando area and some in the Jacksonville area. You will know prior to placing a deposit which litters/puppies are at what pick up area. We can not transport puppies between these areas... we simply have set locations in both areas depending on which breeder has which litter.
.

Vet / Health/ Medical

The health of our puppies is priority in the prenatal, whelping, and puppy raising period.
Puppies must pass a STATE MANDATED vet visit with a Florida Licensed and USDA certified vet before pick up.
We follow professional recommendations for preventative health care in the first 8 weeks with us.
Here is our vetting protocol for the first 8 weeks:
  1. We deworm puppies with FENDABENDAZOLE every 2 weeks starting around 2 weeks of age.  This also is preventative medication for giardia:
    1. 0.3cc x 3 days at weeks 2 and 4
    2. 0.6cc x 3 days at week 6
    3. 0.6cc x 5 days at week 7
  2. We preventatively treat for coccidia with Toltrazuril or Marquis at the following intervals:
    1. 2, 4, 6, and 7-8 weeks.
  3. We administer a prescription grade heartworm/flea/parasite combo tablet called SENTINEL at week 7-8. Sentinel lasts for 30 days
  4. We run a fecal exam at 4-5 weeks and 8 weeks
  5. We microchip each puppy around 7-8 weeks. We use the brand NANOCHIP
  6. We trim puppy nails weekly starting around 3 weeks old. We use a human nail clipper for this
  7. We do 1-2 baths during the first 8 weeks. Minimizing baths allows puppies to retain their natural oils in their skin and fur.
  8. We use a natural ear drop with each bath to reduce the risk of ear infections and ear mites
  9. Core mandated vaccines (Da2PP and Bordetella), fecal exam, deworming, physical exam and health certificate with our vet at 8 weeks old
  10. Then we breath easy knowing everyone is ready to go!
You can see examples of a health certificate in our Document Page
THE DOCUMENT CENTER

SPAY/NEUTER

Your puppy is not spayed at pick up. Sterilization is the responsibility of the buyer. We recommend waiting until 12-24 months before sterilizing to allow your puppy to fully develop. Many vets will recommend an early spay for the convenience. This is a GARBAGE recommendation and evidence based practice shows that early sterilization can snowball into a variety of health and behavior problems down the line. Be responsible as a pet owner and keep your pet's safety in mind when going through a heat cycle.
.

GENETIC TESTING

All of our breeding dogs have genetic testing done specific to the Australian Shepherd breed. We share our results publicly on Pawprints Pedigree. We also have a bio page on each current or upcoming breeding dog available on the website. The bio page will have testing results in a JPEG for easy access. We do white out private identifying information for security reasons. We do not even breed two carriers together to GUARENTEE no puppy will have a genetic condition that we can test for within the parents.
.
We use Pawprint Genetics, Canine Health Check, Embark, and Gensol for our genetic testing. All of these companies meet the gold standards for canine laboratory testing in the breeding industry.
.
Orthopedic Foundation of Animals

We do OFA evaluations on our breeding dogs. This tests for things like hip dysplasia, orthopedic concerns, eye problems, and cardiac issues IN THE PARENTS. Although OFA recommendations are helpful for breeders it DOES NOT GUARENTEE an offspring will be exempt from this health condition. We are working through our OFA evaluations but since COVID19 our options have been limited and prices have jumped up. We have to do evaluations around heat cycles and weaning puppies, dog shows and training, puppy raising and life... so it takes a bit of planning.
.
GENETIC HEALTH GUARENTEE
We PROUDLY stand behind the health of our dogs. Every puppy has a one year genetic health guarantee. Please refer to the purchase agreement to see the specifics on our guarantee.
.
Pawprint Pedigree Records

REGISTRATION

American Stock Dog Registry
All of our aussies are ASDR registered. ASDR is the gold standard registry for mini and toy aussies. We are very honored to be featured on the ASDR Breeder's Page as a recognized verified breeder.
.
We ONLY provide puppy registration paperwork with proof of spay/neuter from your vet. Your vet will need to send us the surgical report directly via email within 30 days of sterilization. You will need to send us $30 via zelle, 3 recent photos of the dog, and your requesting registry name. We will submit everything to ASDR for you. Every dog will start with the work Charisma's to signify our pedigree. We reserve the right to be placed as a "co-owner" on the paperwork for purposes of showing/competition/events/recognition. A co-owner does not have legal rights to the dog but receives credit when titles or events are won.  ASDR paperwork can take 30-60 days to get to you. All registry papers are PET ONLY and we do not sign off on breeding rights for our puppies unless certain verifiable criteria has been met (Age 2, elite championship, OFA complete and passed, genetic testing passed, ect.)

.
AKC
Miniature and Toy Australian Shepherds are NOT AKC recognized. They are considered a RARE BREED dog.
Any puppy will be eligible for AKC PALS registration which will allow you to compete with your dog in events. This is at your expense and we do not need to provide you with anything additional. I HIGHLY recommend looking into AKC PALS events as they are great ways to enrich your dog's life and build the foundation for your pup.

FINAL REMARKS

Thanks for reading The Bible. This Puppy Bible has been written, rewritten, changed, and changed back many times over the years. The goal was to make this page user friendly and an easy read so here we are. We actually cut out A LOT of content for 2021 because people we complaining about the length of the Bible. You just read The Short Version. There is still A TON of information to learn and understand about Aussies, the breed, how to raise and care for them over their lifetime, good pet owner practices, and so on. Please do your homework and see if Australian Shepherds are the right breed for you. As a breeder I am going to expect you have done your research on the breed and you are now trying to match with a good breeder. Our Aussie Education Center Page will be up and running in the next few months and this will be a good source for Aussie owner tips/help/education. Until then FB groups are a great way to connect with other Aussie owners.
.
P.S.
The CHECK LIST page has been added for 2021 to help people focus on what to do once they are 100% in going through us as their breeder.
The Document Center is helpful for future and current puppy owners for various items.
